Huddersfield Giants 10 - 11 Hull FC
Hull FC seized the opportunity presented by the Huddersfield Giants' struggle to clinch a decisive try, triumphing with a score of 10 - 11 at the John Smiths Stadium. This victory marked their second win in three matches of the 2025 Betfred Super League. From Adam Swift's dazzling try at the 32-minute mark to Harvey Barron's breathtaking length-of-the-field interception try at 66 minutes, the outcome seemed all but certain. Yet, accolades must be bestowed upon the Airlie Birds, who persevered valiantly, embraced their fortuitous moments, and emerged victorious.
Let's take a look back at the game:

The Coaches Assessment
Luke Robinson
John Cartwright
"To come from behind was pleasing, Harvey came up with some individual brilliance and then Aidan iced the game. I thought they were probably the better side for the whole game but it is a skill when you’re winning those games when you're behind on momentum."
The Final Word
In sports, the outcome often hinges on fine margins, and for the Giants, this latest loss, making it three consecutive defeats, may be the most disheartening. In their first two matches, they demonstrated competitiveness and a committed defence. In this game, the defence remained robust, with only an interception and a 50/50 try on the edge undermining their efforts. Luke Robinson recognizes that his team had the advantage in field position and dominance for over 30 minutes, which should have been sufficient to secure victory. However, a concerning lack of composure from Tui Lolohea, coupled with a noticeable deficit in confidence and belief from the team from 10 -10, ultimately contributed to their defeat.
The 2025 version of John Cartwright's Hull FC clearly demonstrates greater mental fortitude. At this stage of the season, the primary focus is on securing victories, regardless of the manner in which they are achieved. Once again, the team's young talents—Moy, Barron, and Balmforth—proved they are well-suited for this level of competition.
Last season, Herman Ese'Ese was recognized as our Prop of the Year, and in his matchup against NRL Champion Tom Burgess, he displayed remarkable prowess, outdoing Burgess with eight additional tackles, five more tackle busts, and two extra carries for a total of 35 more meters gained. This performance marks the pinnacle of Herman's season thus far and sets a promising tone for the remainder of the year.
Confidence is undoubtedly building at the MKM Stadium, raising the critical question: Can the team maintain this momentum against the Leopards at home next week?
